Seven days, 95,000 attendees, 2,517 exhibitors, 108,441 square feet in three buildings, and me and four of my buyers. Even saying it makes my head spin! We plan weeks in advance for our buying trips for our 2 stores. The goal is always to bring the newest and greatest items home to our customers, things they will not find anywhere. And boy, it’s quite a crazy and tiring experience. But being a buyer is one of the greatest jobs on Earth and if you love to shop and trends - this is it.
Being a buyer is exhilarating. You can be the inspiration for your customers by introducing them to the greatest trends and pieces that will become instant classics. And who wouldn’t like being paid to shop?!
If this sounds exciting to you, look up the closest gift show near you. The two largest shows are in New York and Atlanta, but many cities have their own. It is something to experience and you just might find it so wonderful, that you have found your dream job just like me and my girls. I say go for it!
