A Love Letter To Men and Women Alike... What Say’s I Love You More Than Flowers And Food?!

Dear Men,


Forget about long stemmed roses on Valentine’s Day!  This may be a curious statement coming from me, a flower store owner, but I mean it.   Around this time of year, countless men come in and say, “I have to have a dozen red roses delivered on the 14th.”  And I say, “Have you thought about a bouquet of her favorite flowers and maybe dinner?”  They look at me like I’m nuts.  Am I?


I would love for my husband (are you taking notes Joe?!)  to bring home a small bouquet of my favorite flowers and some Chinese food, maybe even the brick oven pizza I like.  Nothing says “I love you” like food and flowers in my book…and speaking about the “meaning” of flowers, here are a few of my favorites:  Pink Orchid “True Affection”, Sweet Pea “Bliss”, Calla Lilly “Magnificence and Charm”, Peony “Good Fortune and Happy Marriage”, Ranunculus “I Am Dazzled By Your Charms”  Who wouldn't want an armful of that?





To my fellow gals, anything looks and tastes better in a heart shape!  I love these heart shaped pans made from silicon.   In a flash, I can make flavored butters (and who doesn't like butter?!) simply by blending a jelly or jam with room temperature butter, fill the pans and then set in the refrigerator.  You can make any type of sweet butter to top pancakes, waffles, biscuits…and you can make savory butters too (Parmesan, chive, garlic) to accompany meats, mashed potatoes, vegetables…    





It doesn't have to be Valentine’s Day to give someone you love flowers and something made especially for them – I say make each and every day a special one!
